Global Pound (GP)
A proposed sterling-referenced digital value and payment initiative designed around a one-to-one relationship with the British pound.
1 GP
= £1 GBP
Design objective
The intended model is a transparent framework in which Global Pound units are supported by equivalent sterling reserves, subject to the final legal, financial and operational structure.
The long-term ambition is a digital financial ecosystem connecting digital wallets, sterling-denominated digital value, merchant payments, digital commerce, international payment services and Tehuty Pay.
How it could work
The proposed framework.
01
Issuance
Proposed: GP units would only be issued when equivalent sterling value is received and held in designated backing assets.
02
Reserves
Proposed: for every GP unit issued, an equivalent value in sterling backing assets. Composition and custody to be defined and independently verified.
03
Redemption
Proposed: a framework for exchanging GP back to sterling. No redemption rights exist until legally established.
04
Use
Long-term ambition: wallets, merchant payments, digital commerce and Tehuty Pay integration.
Transparency principles
Independent reserve attestations, published once issuance begins.
Clear disclosure of reserve composition and custodians.
Plain-language regulatory status, updated as it develops.
